It might come as no surprise to hear that, after the scorching temperatures we saw earlier in the year, house buyers are now increasingly interested in finding properties that come fully equipped with air conditioning… food for thought, perhaps, for those considering putting their houses on the market and who are looking for a quick sell.

New research from Rightmove has just revealed that searches for properties for sale complete with air conditioning have more than tripled in 12 months, while searches for homes to rent with this facility have also climbed 74 per cent since 2021.

Sellers certainly seem to be becoming more aware of this emerging trend, as well, with the study also revealing that the number of available property listings mentioning aircon has more than quadrupled compared to this time last year.

Commenting on the findings, Rightmove property expert Tim Bannister said: “During the hottest days of the year we’ve seen people across the UK jump straight onto Rightmove to see where they could live with the luxury of air conditioning.

“Though they make up a very small portion of the current property market, homes with aircon and other features that keep a home cool could attract even more interest in the future if we experience similarly hot summers and these features rise up the priority list.”

Other home features that have shifted in popularity in recent times include garden offices, summer houses, orangeries, underfloor heating, open plan rooms and bifold doors, all of which are becoming more and more popular as time goes on.

Homeowners considering selling up and moving on may want to see which of these features they can provide with relative ease if they want to get that all-important sale - and get as close to the asking price as possible.
